5th Sunday Contributions Welcome
Posted by Mark Teske
GBN has recently been blessed on several levels. First, we have located and purchased a building in Olive Branch, Mississippi that not only meets the current needs of the organization but also provides room for growth into the future. Due to the current recession, our cost of the bank-owned building was almost half of the appraised value. The building is significantly more efficient than our current location, and utilities and other operating expenses will be much less as a result.
Secondly, we have been blessed tremendously by an anonymous donor. The donor has agreed to match all contributions of $500 or more to our building fund through the end of 2012. This match is capped at $150,000 in total; which, if met, would bring us very close to the total cost of the new building.
Thirdly, the month of July includes five Sundays. Many congregations of the Lord's church utilize their 5th Sunday contribution to help meet special needs that are over and above the typical 4-week month. Many great works of the Lord's church have been blessed by congregations utilizing these “5th Sunday contributions” for special needs.
As a result of these events, we are asking congregations to consider utilizing their 5th Sunday contributions in the month of July to help us pay for the new GBN building. We have made a flyer which can be downloaded for congregations to use to help promote their 5th Sunday contributions that will be used for this purpose.
As a supporter you can also use the flyer to help educate the leadership of your congregation about GBN. We also have a comprehensive document with lots of specific details available for the asking. We are hoping to get enough congregations to participate in this event to bring us past the half-way point in fund-raising for the building.
If the July 5th Sunday contribution has already been designated by your congregation, we have the opportunity of another 5th Sunday in September and December of this year, as well. Please consider the GBN building fund in your plans for 2012.
